Mission

The Mission Team was born in June 2016 with the purpose of inspiring, encouraging and resourcing churches for mission. We wait with confident expectation to see God’s Kingdom grow both spiritually and numerically across generations. Our desire is to re-imagine our strategy for mission, exploring fresh vision to grow the Kingdom and serve Parishes as they initiate new mission ideas to ensure a growing Christian witness in every local community.

We work in partnership with Clergy and Lay Ministers across the Diocese to promote the health of our churches, ensuring they are appropriately resourced to evangelise and grow Disciples of Christ, as well as develop Invite, Welcome, Worship and Christian Giving strategies. Together we ensure that the Diocese is resourced to tackle the evolving shape of the church so that we can meet the challenges of mission and ministry in coming decades.

We are excited about exploring changes in society with regard to culture and shifting attitudes and are developing a Diocesan Mission Strategy with an associated Implementation Plan. We are eager to make the best use of the gifts and talents God has given to us and our aim is to see change where change is needed at the same time as protecting all the good things we already do in the name of Christ. We promote existing and new models of church to grow congregations that flourish through serving each other and our communities.

Our relentless focus on growing God’s Kingdom in our time will ensure we undertake activities and initiatives that are intentionally missional in their design and execution and engage proactively with our communities at a personal, Parish, Deanery and Diocesan level. The areas of urgent attention that we have prayerfully discerned are:

  • To develop a collaborative strategic framework for Mission within the Diocese of Chester.
  • To implement the agreed Strategy for Mission, we will develop a structure for a Transformation Programme that will develop and deliver the key areas of focus.
