St Mary’s Church, Ashton upon Mersey, began looking at their building afresh around 2010. As a large and growing church that is very active in engaging local communities, there was need to improve both the worship space for all ages and abilities and enhance and increase opportunities for further missional activities, including better hosting conferences.

This lead to a comprehensive re-development project to make the building both fit for purpose and fitting for its grade listed status. Changes were made to improve the worship space, access, and versatility of the space for its many activities; also new audio visual, lighting, prayer space and storage.

Completed in Spring 2017, come and see the transformation and hear from the church about their experiences of developing and managing this project, including:
• Developing the vision for the project and getting a team together
• Architectural solutions and working with the architect
• Fundraising approach
• The difference the project has made
• Lessons learnt and top tips
• What’s next for the church

This event has been organised by the Diocese of Chester. The morning will also include finding out about support available for Anglican churches from the central team at Church House.
